After getting engaged, I started planning my dream wedding and wanted to look amazing in my dress. I've always worked out and ate healthy, but I was struggling to lose weight. After getting a recommendation from a friend, I contacted Kim at Emerge. I began working out with Kim and she monitored what I ate and my work outs. She helped me realized that I was not eating enough. I would have never have thought if I ate more that I could lose weight. She is always supportive and there for me when I had questions or needed a boost to keep me motivated. With her help, I lost 22 pounds for the wedding and I feel great. Thanks Kim! - Michelle

At what point does the average person realize they have let their health take a backseat to everyday 'life happens' issues and decide to do something about it?
Well for me it was on a trip to Hawaii (January 2009) with my wife Sonja and daughter Jessica. The one thing Jessica really wanted to do while there was zipline. Got the brochure, view looked amazing—ziplining in the West Maui mountains, seeing the ocean in the distance. Things looked great! Until we got to the fine print: "Maximum weight allowed 270 pounds". I had to break my daughter's heart by telling her we couldn't go—I scaled at 287 pounds.
'How and when did THIS happen?' I asked myself. Then the bigger question was 'how am I going to fix this?' When we got home from that vacation, we made a pact as a family that we would change our lives and lose weight together. I changed my eating habits and put together a cardio and weight lifting plan and was able to lose 50 lbs. over the next 6 months or so. I never really had any signs of strength or tone increases but my weight was down. My wife on the other hand was using a personal trainer (Nicole) who had helped her lose weight and also strengthen and tone.
In January 2010, I decided that I, too, needed the structure and support that a personal trainer provides. I needed Nicole. What a revelation! In 6 months with Nicole, I lost an additional 45 lbs, dropped 10% body fat and gained tremendous amounts of strength and confidence. I was able to stop taking medication for high blood pressure as it was now in a normal range. My knees don't hurt, my shoulders don't ache. I feel good!
Though my goal was strength and fitness when I began my journey with Nicole, I soon found out that there was more to it. I had found a true friend, teacher, nutritionist, counselor, sponsor and mentor. There are certain people in this world who truly change your life. Nicole has completely changed mine. After my son was born, I was ready to take control of my weight and get back on track. I shopped around for a good trainer and was so excited to find Kimberly. She is different from trainers at other companies because she not only gives me an amazing workout, but she watches my form to make sure I am getting the most out of the exercises.
Kimberly suggested the incredible boot camps that Emerge Fitness offers. They are a great addition to my weekly workouts. Kimberly also helped me get my nutrition under control with great meal options and substitutions. She’s very encouraging and has helped me lose 18 lbs. My name is Mike. Brenda and I have been married since August of 2008. After we got married we decided that we needed to get serious about our overall health and weight. Brenda was a little skeptical because of a bad trainer experience in the past. The trainer never listened and as a result Brenda’s knee was injured. I have trained with Kim in the past and tried very hard to convince her that Kim was the kind of trainer that gets to know you and what ailments that you may have. Kim has proven to Brenda that she knows the body and how far we can push certain body parts.
We have gotten serious in 2010 with our food intake and of course our cardio. CARDIO, CARDIO, that's the phrase that Kim uses to emphasize the need for 5 days a week of fat burning sessions. We have been pretty religious in our cardio this year. As a result we have lost weight and body fat too. We feel better as a whole and feel like we have control of our health again. When we are younger we feel evincible but that’s not the case as we get over the HILL (50 years old), LOL. Matt, Angie, and Beth all make Brenda and I feel like a small family at Emerge. Other clients are very supportive as well. We have a good time working out at Emerge and usually we forget about the sweat and pain until the next day. My name is Debbie and I am 53 years old. I have struggled with losing weight for the past 20 years, trying Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Atkins, and Southbeach with no or little success. In the past I have dieted and exercised but not always together. When I met Beth I was just ready to make a lifestyle change. I’ve lived the fat life long enough and I wanted to see what life as a smaller healthier person would be like.
I have been working out with Beth since June 19, 2009 and I have lost a grand total of 84 lbs. I meet with Beth 3 times a week for 1 hour and I do 30 minutes of an interval cardio program the other 4 days. I workout 7 days a week and I now look forward to exercising. Beth has tweaked my cardio workouts a few times and I push myself to the next level. I also eat 1600 calories daily and journal, which Beth checks weekly. This is a journey for me and I am well on my way. Training, cardio, and eating healthy are the lifestyle changes I have made with Beth’s help. I am finally doing it and feeling pretty good about myself. - Debbie

What can I say, I’m the classic yo-yo dieter that loses and gains 20 lbs every two or three years except when I gain it was always 10 lbs more than I had lost. Over several years I went from 225 to 291lbs. “You are Obese” were the exact words the doctor used to give me a reality check. I had to do something but it had to be something different than all the other times. Something that would guarantee I would get my health back.
When I train with Angie and Matt I know every workout has a purpose of making me healthier and more fit. If you KNOW what you are doing has been prescribed by an expert you believe in it more and you put more into it. Thanks Matt and Angie for giving me my life back. I no longer view myself as the funny fat guy, but a funny fit guy! - Dave

Angie and Matt have changed my life for the better. As dramatic as that sounds, it is true. I underestimated how my physical health and appearance affected my attitude and life. I have lost an unbelievable amount of weight and have gone from a size 10 to a size 0. I am happier, more self-confident and more knowledgeable about how to live a healthy lifestyle. I am addicted to Emerge and would recommend it to any person wanting to improve their health. I will continue here for years to come. - Brittany

Before I started working out at Emerge I was eating out 4 to 5 times a week, not exercising, and feeling frumpy. "Carbs" were my best friend. With a full time job, husband, and two kids; when I had a spare minute a nap was a priority! I came to Emerge in a whopping size 18-20 and now am in a size 8. Yes, an 8! I couldn't be happier with my success thanks to the assistance of Angie. Being active now has change my life full circle. I prioritize getting at least 20 minutes of cardio in at lease 4 times a week in addition to my time spent at Emerge. I still eat out every week but my choices are smarter. Don't let that fool you I still manage to get in that plate of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans. The difference now is portion control. Since I started training with Jason I have lost about 70lbs. I was doing things incorrectly and doing a lot of damage to myself. I was a weight lifter in high school and thought I knew what I was doing, as I have corrected the form with Jason and continued to get stronger all the previous damaged joint and muscle pain has gone away. I walked in and saw someone the other day and they were shocked it was me I had to reintroduce myself. - Dirk

My aunt and I have now been working out with Beth since early October, both partner training one hour per week & attending Saturday morning boot camp sessions. We have both noticed a significant change in our strength & physical fitness in the past 20 weeks or so, in addition to some weight loss & body changes. One of the best things about working out with Beth is that she takes in account both of our fitness levels, ages & goals when planning each workout, making adjustments as necessary so that neither one of us holds the other back or feels as if what she's asking us to do is beyond our abilities. The boot camps are always laid back & fun, although we are always pushed to our limits & get a GREAT workout... and are often sore for days afterwards! - Beth

Angie gave me a "non-diet" diet to follow that worked. (Far superior to the hospital dietician's!) She worked with a low back problem and balance issues with what I now realize were baby steps. Through specific weight training exercises and cardio workouts, little by little, I lost weight and inches, and gained muscle mass where there never had been any. My main objective to getting healthier was achieved when my MD said I no longer needed to take diabetic medication. His instructions were to keep on doing what I'm doing. He asked how I did it. My name is Lynne Morrissey. I have worked with my personal trainer for 5 1/2 months and have lost 55lbs. I had multiple health issues - hypertension, high cholesterol, and newly diagnosed degenerative disc disease with persistent back pain affecting my work. Now I am off my blood pressure medication and my blood pressure is within normal limits. My cholesterol is also controlled, and my back pain has essentially disappeared. Before losing weight I felt older than my 46 years, now I feel 10 years younger, stronger and more energetic than I have ever felt in my adult life. I have belonged to many gyms and have been on a multitude of diets, and had lost hope of ever succeeding in my pursuit of a healthy lifestyle and weight loss. This is the first time it has really worked, and this is absolutely due to having a personal trainer. It makes such a difference to have someone there to guide, motivate, and believe in me. I still have approximately 35 lbs to loose, and this time I know I will succeed. This has changed my life in more ways than I could have believed possible. - Lynne

After having my son I was a good 10lbs heavier than what I would have liked to be. Since I have been training with Angie, I have lost about 11lbs and I am feeling great! Not only that, but now I can go shopping and actually get excited about trying on clothes again! Training at Emerge as helped me gained more confidence than I have ever had to be able to go to the gym on my own when I need to, knowing exactly what machine does what and be able to complete an efficient workout. Now when I leave the gym after doing a workout on my own I actually feel like I did something or just like I would if I had just finished a session with Angie. I never thought I would see the day again that I would be back to my pre pregnancy weight, but here I am staring it in the face!
I was also able to sit down with Angie and go over, just overall better choices for eating, which has definitely helped move me faster toward my weight goal. Training with Angie and the Emerge team I can honestly say that I have made exercise and more healthy eating choices a permanent part of my life and for good this time! : )
