KEELIN RUSSELL
I have been a competitive athlete my entire life, having been a 10 time All-American and National Title holder in track and field (sprinting and jumping), a professional dancer, and field hockey player. My experience as a high-level athlete, the amount I have learned along the way in proper exercise, injury prevention, and rehabilitation, and proper nutrition for sport, weight gain, and weight loss, have inspired my well-rounded approach for training not just athletes, but weight-loss clients and those who come to me simply to better their quality of life through health and fitness.
My work with athletes and any person who wants to take their fitness to a new level is applicable to all sports and goals. I am the head track and field coach and cross country coach at Saint Joseph’s Academy and have taken my teams to the state championship each season I have coached. In addition to my experience with runners and track and field athletes, I have trained youth athletes who have become D1 captains of their rowing teams, lacrosse players, field hockey players, swimmers, football players, soccer players, volleyball players, and Olympic weightlifters. I have also trained Olympic level runners, figure skaters, triathletes, and field athletes. Adult athletes include professional dancers (aerialists, contemporary, latin), triathletes, tennis players, and runners.
I have helped those who never thought they had an athletic bone in their body compete in their first 5ks-IronMans, helping them develop their race programs, their first weightlifting competitions, joining their local tennis leagues, etc. The possibilities are endless when you are willing to give it a try!
I also work with women who want to maintain a healthy pregnancy, helping them with the beginning stages (pre-pregnancy to establish a healthy lifestyle), the actual pregnancy (keeping them strong and active while maintaining the safety protocols necessary for the baby), and post-pregnancy (getting your body and mind back to a pre-pregnancy level in the safest manner). Having had a baby myself, I am happy to discuss and work with others on how to be sure that health and fitness are a life-long commitment for both the mother and the baby.
In addition to personal training, I also service group training sessions, teach boot camp classes, and Strength 101 classes, allowing for variety for all of my clients in how they can approach their fitness journey. My approach to my nutrition clients is holistic based, as I teach them how to have a healthy life-long relationship with real food rather than find band-aids or quick fixes that do not have long term results. I have experience with sports nutrition, basic nutrition, and do work with people with allergen based-diets, such as dairy and gluten free.
I highly value giving back to the community through my services. I have ran the Fitness with Fido boot camp at the Purina Farms Pooch Playdate for three years during which I teach people in the community how easy it is to have fitness in their lives with their dogs as their workout partner. I volunteer regularly at races, even bringing my teams with me to pass along the love of volunteerism to my youth athletes. I have also led dance classes and boot camps to raise awareness and toys for the U.S. Marines and the Little Black Book: Women in Business’s Toys For Tots campaigns.
I am very honored that my work has been recognized by the St. Louis and St. Charles County Community. In 2016 I was named “Coach of the Year” by the St. Louis Post Dispatch/Suburban Journals, and I was also inducted into StreetScape Magazine’s “Beyond the Best” Award class of 2016 for my work in health and fitness and the impact that it has had in the local community.
